My PADI Open Water Certification

While in Mexico for the past 2 weeks, I decided to pursue my PADI Open Water Certification.  Why not dive down to the bottom of the ocean with millions of liters of water and massive amounts of pressure weighing down on me… while floating weightlessly in the beautiful warm ocean and breathing underwater like some sort of fun marvel superhero.  One of the best ideas I’ve had to this date.

I checked out a few local dives shops, and decided on doing it right at the hotel in the dive shop.   It was one of the shops that was rated extremely well online, recommended by a local in the town, and had a dive master that has taught over 180 Open water courses per year for the last 5 years. Easy choice.  I quickly did my 5 classroom sessions, quizzes, test, pool intro, and before I knew it I was in the open water.  My first dive was as my new dive friend, Poncho, told me “Love at first Dive” and he was right. I immediately fell in love with this new and exotic world.

Turtles, Pufferfish, Sting rays, Moray Eels, schools and schools of brilliantly coloured fish. It was true  love.

Thanks to all the staff at Aqua Excursions and the Technical Underwater World for making my first few diving experiences so amazing. Odin, you were an amazing instructor and made me feel so incredibly comfortable and confident in the water.  Poncho, thanks for all of the awesome photography!  You guys are unreal!
